TEHRAN (IQNA) – The founder of the largest Quranic school in Nepal said in order to resolve their differences, Muslims ought to take recourse to the true divine values.

Islamic unity

Speaking to IQNA, Qari Mohammad Hussein Halwaei said enemies are trying to foment discord and spread hate in the Islamic world and in order to foil their attempts and boost unity, all Muslims should resort to sublime values of Islam.

He is in Iran to take part in the 36th International Islamic Unity Conference.

He referred to verse 103 of Surah Al-Imran “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter,” and said followers of Islam must all comply with this divine command.

Halwaei described disunity as a major disease that could put Muslims in trouble if they fail to confront it.

He went on to say that when there is discord in the Islamic world, enemies can exploit it and deal blows to the Muslim Ummah.

The president of the Islamic Society in Denmark is another participant in the Islamic unity conference.

Ubaid Ali Ubaid in an interview with IQNA underlined the need for all Muslims to avoid discord and disunity in the Islamic world.

He regretted the existence of discord among Muslims, saying it is because they fail to pay attention to so many commonalities among different Islamic schools of thought.

He also said that Muslims should come to the realization that any problem in the Islamic world is related to each and every Muslim.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ubaid referred to the need for promoting peace worldwide and said in order to achieve peace, there needs to be mutual understanding among societies and countries.

The 36th International Islamic Unity Conference kicked off here in the Iranian capital on Sunday. It will be formally launched in a ceremony on Wednesday with a speech to be delivered by Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi.

Some 300 scholars, thinkers, political and religious figures from 60 countries are taking part in this year’s edition.

The conference is annually held in Iran by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week.

The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on October 13 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (Sunday, October 9) as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates is celebrated every year as the Islamic Unity Week.

Late Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini (RA) declared the occasion as the Islamic Unity Week back in the 1980s.
